With hosts Licia Canton, Christine Sansalone, and Maria Pia Spadafora. Organized by Accenti Magazine and Association of Italian-Canadian Writers to celebrate National Poetry Month. MONTREAL LAUNCH: Here & Now, Volume II
Join us for the Montreal launch of the second volume of Here & Now: An Anthology of Queer
Italian-Canadian Writing, featuring discussion and readings by some of the authors in the anthology. The volume showcases 50 writers from the LGBTQ+ and Italian-Canadian communities. The book continues the conversation prompted by Volume 1 (2021), and helps to break down barriers by encouraging inclusion. Presented in collaboration with: Accenti, AICW, Mariano Elia Chair, ELAN, ÉRÉQQ, Longbridge, and Villa Charities. Participants: Michael Belcher, Licia Canton, Jessica Carpinone, Vee Di Gregorio, Christopher DiRaddo, John Di Stefano, Michael D’Itri, Steve Galluccio, Milena Gioia, Anthony Portulese, and others. Hosted by Liana Cusmano and Lianne Moyes.

Not much has been published on queer Italo-Québécois writing, despite the growing body of English-language literature by LGBTQ+ Italian-Quebecers, who have decided to write their own stories. In this Lunch & Learn, Dr. Licia Canton will present her QUESCREN Working Paper “Queer(ing) Italo-Québécois Literature”, where she aims to rectify this absence and encourage conversations about identity, diversity and inclusion.
